Introduction

Presently concentrating on documentation of indigenous knowledge on traditional medicine systems in Chotanagpur and Santhal parganas. Studies are underway for the development of propagation techniques and agro-silvicultural systems for cultivation of important medicinal plants such as Raulfia Serpentina, Withania somnifera, asparagus racemosa and Gymnema sylvestris. Herbal gardens and propagation centers have been established at different locations in Darjeeling (West Bengal) and Ranchi (Jharkhand).

  • Eco-restoration and rehabilitation of mined out areas and other stress sites
  • Soil-vegetation interrelationship for health improvement stability and productivity of ecosystem
  • Recycling of wastes for soil health improvement
  • Optimization of nutrient use in forestry
  • Documentation of traditional knowledge for natural resource management
