Forest Ecology & Climate Change Division
Introduction
The Forest Ecology and Climate Change Division has undertaken a lot of works in the past years in the field of ecological restoration and rehabilitation of mining areas and other stressed areas in the Eastern Region. The Division has worked particularly in the area of rehabilitation of mine waste dumps, wastelands and salt affected and waterlogged lands through research projects and training.
Research mandate of the Division:
Assessment and conservation of biodiversity
Economic restoration and rehabilitation of mined areas and other stressed areas
Soil-vegetation interactions for ecosystem productivity
Recycling of wastes for improving soil health
Optimization effects of nutrient use in forestry
Documentation of traditional knowledge for natural resource management
