Molecular Biology & Tree Physiology Laboratory

Molecular_imgThe Molecular Biology and Tree Physiology Laboratory is equipped with modern instruments like HPLC, UV-VIS spectrophotometer, PCR, Gel electrophoresis unit, high speed cooling centrifuge, portable photosynthesis meter, deep freezers etc. The laboratory is being efficiently utilized for estimation of endogenous bio chemicals and active ingredients of important medicinal plants and NWFP species; and assessment of genetic diversity in eastern Indian Bamboos, selected superior accessions of Jatropha curcas, Scliechera oleosa and Moringa oleifera. A total of 34 students from different universities in six batches have so far been trained here on ‘Basics of Plant Molecular Biology’ during 2010.
